A New Resource for
Recovering Ex-Mormons
Welcome to my exmormon blog. Having weathered the stormy transition from devout Mormonism to a successful and happy secular life, I saw the need for a resource to help others inclined to do the same. I wrote a workbook, Recovery from Mormonism, as my contribution. I’ll send you this workbook intended to help people leave the LDS or Mormon church for free, with no further obligation, in hopes that you will find the ideas and exercises of some value in your efforts to start a new life after leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Drawing from my background as a psychotherapist, I have shared the key ideas that helped me through this post-Mormon transition period in my own life. The focus is to free yourself from LDS or Mormon indoctrination and discover who you are and what you really want, while distancing yourself from the guilt, fear, anger, obsessive thinking and overwhelming uncertainty that inevitably accompany such a departure from all that is familiar.
Only the bravest of souls have the courage to question tradition and endure the social disapproval and outright contempt that comes from family, friends and church leaders upon deciding they’ve had enough of the half-truths and deception that are so prevalent in Mormonism. It takes guts to leave. It takes time to recover and reorganize your life. There is a price to be paid for upsetting the applecart, even when the apples are no longer desirable.
Many substitute a different religion for Mormonism when they leave. Personally, I saw no reason and did not feel the need to do this. Recovery from Mormonism may still be helpful to those transitioning to another religion, but I wrote it from a humanistic point of view. My goal is to help you discover your own values.
The workbook does not detail the evidence that Mormonism is false, as that has been done in overwhelming adequacy elsewhere. I assume you have done your own research or have your reasons for wanting to leave. Additionally, I am careful in this workbook not to attack Mormonism or rant and rave. The workbook is positive and the subject is YOU.
Now is the time to let go of the indoctrination and learn about yourself. Rest assured, the life that awaits you is full of adventure, success, joy and meaning. Pursue it with courage and integrity and you will soon enough begin to feel the solid ground of Earth beneath your feet. The rest of your wonderful life is waiting!
Recovery from Mormonism is a 35-page workbook. To receive it, fill out the form below and I will email it to you. I will never share your name or contact information with anyone. I will add you to my email list and share my thoughts from time to time on growing out of Mormonism, unless you decline to receive such emails. Feel free to share the workbook with family and friends who may be in need.
